Editions & licensing
NexoVirt is one build with a free Community Edition and paid plans. A paid license only unlocks things: if it lapses, the panel falls back to Community Edition and keeps running.
Community Edition
Section titled “Community Edition”Free Self-hosted, up to 2 Proxmox nodes, unlimited VMs and containers.
Community Edition includes every core feature of the panel: guests, consoles, metrics, networking, VPN, backups, migration, plans, the customer portal, alerting and the REST API.
No registration or key is needed to install: the installer gets a free, unclaimed Community license the first time it runs. Claim it whenever you like from Settings > Edition & license; see how the license works.
Paid plans
Section titled “Paid plans”Paid plans are flat plans without per-VM fees. In the panel any paid plan shows as Enterprise. Each plan includes everything in the plan before it:

A license can also carry its own node cap, which then replaces the plan default. Current prices are on nexovirt.com/pricing.
Node limit
Section titled “Node limit”The node count is the number of distinct Proxmox nodes the panel manages across all connections (a cluster counts each of its nodes). While you are at the limit, Add node is refused. If an install ends up over its limit (for example after a paid license expires), the panel shows a banner and blocks adding nodes and creating guests until you renew or remove a node. Existing guests keep running and can still be managed; nothing is deleted.
How the license works

Install with no key. Run the installer without
NEXOVIRT_LICENSE; it gets a free, unclaimed Community license. See Installation. -
Claim it (optional, any time). Open Settings > Edition & license. While the install is unclaimed, a Claim this install card shows the license key and an Open account portal button.

Claim it in the account portal (optional). In the account portal (
portal.nexovirt.com/account/licenses/claim), sign in or create a free account and enter the key. Every Community feature works without claiming; only account-linked extras such as DynDNS names need a claimed install. The license is now tied to your account, where you can upgrade it later without reinstalling.
To activate a paid key on an existing install, paste it under Activate Enterprise on the same page and choose Save & validate. A paid or existing key can also be passed at install time with NEXOVIRT_LICENSE=<key>.
Validation and offline use
Section titled “Validation and offline use”- The license is a signed token, bound to this server’s hardware ID and checked against a public key built into the panel.
- The panel re-validates it with the license server every 5 minutes. Settings > Edition & license shows the status, plan, expiry and the last successful check, and has a Check now button.
- If the license server cannot be reached, the last token stays valid until it expires (14 days after the last successful check). The page then shows the date on which paid features stop.
- An expired, revoked or invalid license never locks you out: the panel drops back to Community Edition.
