Usage and privacy
The panel sends one small, anonymous usage report with its daily license check. The only identifier is a random install ID. Open Settings > Usage & privacy to see the Exactly what is sent preview, which is the real report the panel would send next.
What is always sent (license compliance)
Section titled “What is always sent (license compliance)”This part cannot be switched off, because it is how licenses are enforced:
- the random install ID, the edition and the panel version,
- counts of nodes, hosts, VMs and containers.
What the analytics option adds
Section titled “What the analytics option adds”Share anonymous product analytics is on by default and can be switched off. When on, the report also contains:
- coarse feature flags and counts: whether the customer portal, NAT and PBS are in use, number of alert rules, customers and IP zones,
- daily activity counters: sign-ins and failed sign-ins per role, the number of distinct active users per role (counted from hashes, ids never leave the panel), page views per area (for example guests, nodes, settings), API calls and finished jobs per kind (ok or failed),
- error counts per error code, plus the most frequent error messages with addresses, emails, names, URLs, paths, quoted text and long numbers replaced by placeholders such as
<ip>or<str>, - environment: PHP version, OS and version, the Proxmox VE versions and node agent versions in use (version to count),
- crash reports, sent without the user name and with the same scrubbing.
Completed days are sent once, at most the last 7 days. Counters are kept on the panel for 30 days.
What is never sent
Section titled “What is never sent”User names, email addresses, IP addresses, host and node names, guest names and IDs, MAC addresses, request bodies, tokens and license keys inside messages.
Switching it off
Section titled “Switching it off”Turn off Share anonymous product analytics and click Save preferences. From then on the activity counters, error insight, environment data and crash reports stay on your panel; only the compliance part above is sent.
